Privacy Policy — Trade Journal — Local Trading Log & Stats

Last updated: 19 September 2026
Applies to the Chrome extension Trade Journal — Local Trading Log & Stats, version 2.0.0 and later.

In short

Trade Journal stores the trades you record on your own computer and nowhere else. It has no account, no server, no analytics and no network access of any kind.

This policy covers the Trade Journal — Local Trading Log & Stats browser extension only. The separate policy at https://imdominator.com/l/privacy-policy covers the imdominator.com website, which does use analytics and an email service provider — none of which the extension touches.

What is stored, and why

Everything below is written by Chrome into chrome.storage.local, a private area on the computer you are using. It is not synchronised to other devices and the developer has no way to read it.

Stored itemWhat it containsWhy
tradesThe trades you enter: date, symbol, direction, size, entry, stop, exit, fees, your setup tag, your notes, and any chart screenshot you chose to attach. This is the journal itself. Without it the extension has nothing to show you.
journalSettingsYour display preferences: currency label, default direction, and whether a confirmation is shown before deleting a trade. So the extension behaves the same next time you open it.

Screenshots you attach are part of your journal. They stay in local storage with everything else, are included in a JSON backup, and are left out of the CSV export.

What is not collected

Permissions, and what each one is for

PermissionWhat it is used for
storageKeeps the two items above in chrome.storage.local, the private storage area Chrome gives each extension on your device.
activeTabLets the extension take a screenshot of the tab you are looking at, and only when you press the "Capture visible tab" button. Chrome grants this access for that one tab, only after you click the extension's toolbar icon, and it lapses again afterwards. The screenshot is scaled down and written to local storage together with the trade. It is not uploaded, because the extension has nowhere to upload it to.

Links inside the extension

There is exactly one: a contact address in the footer. Clicking it opens your own email program — it sends nothing by itself and tells us nothing unless you choose to write. The extension contains no links to websites, no embedded content, no adverts and nothing that is fetched from the network.

How long data is kept, and how to remove it

Your data stays until you remove it. There is no expiry and no automatic upload.

Because the data lives only on your device, uninstalling is irreversible. Write a JSON backup from the options page first if you want to keep it.

Your rights

Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies to you, or Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), you have the right to access, correct, export, restrict and erase personal data a controller holds about you, and to complain to a supervisory authority.

In the case of this extension there is nothing on our side to act on: no data reaches us, so we hold nothing to disclose, correct or delete. You already have full access, export and deletion through the extension itself, on your own device.

The Chrome Web Store

Installing from the Chrome Web Store is a transaction between you and Google. Google records installation and usage statistics and shows the developer aggregate, anonymised figures such as an install count — never anything that identifies you. That processing is Google's and is covered by Google's own privacy policy.

Children

Trade Journal — Local Trading Log & Stats is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect anything from anyone, of any age.

Changes to this policy

If the extension ever starts handling data differently, this page is updated before that version is published, and the date at the top changes with it.
