Public OpenAI DevDay 2026 – The 4 launches that change how we build and sell with AI

Yesterday OpenAI shipped 20+ announcements. New models (GPT-6.1 Sol), a faster tier (Ultrafast), ChatGPT Space for docs and slides.

Nice. But not what I want you to focus on.

For affiliates and product creators, four launches matter. Here's what they are and what I'd do with them.

1) SIGN IN WITH CHAT

The most underrated launch of the day.

Users can now log into partner apps with their ChatGPT account. Plus and Pro users can even use their existing plan allowance inside those apps. It started with 16 launch partners, more are planned.

Why this is huge: Until now, a free AI tool meant YOU paid for every user's inference. That killed most free-tool ideas.

If this opens up broadly, the math flips: → Core tool free (the user's plan covers the AI) → You charge for advanced features, team use, more data, done-for-you → Bigger top of funnel, more emails, more buyers

Remember when "Login with Facebook" created a wave of new companies? Same pattern.

This is the "free tool → list → upsell" model we already use. Just without the API bill.

2) DOTS – OpenAI's always-on agents

Personal agents that run 24/7, with their own computer and browser, connected to 4,000+ apps through plugins.

A user says: "I need X done." ChatGPT understands the job and picks the plugin that can do it.

ChatGPT now has 1.2 billion weekly users. Being the plugin that gets picked is the new SEO.

Heads-up: Dots are rolling out to Pro and Business Premium – but not in the EU, Switzerland or UK yet. Build now, the market follows.

3) AGENTS API WITH COMPUTER USE (public beta)

Build agents that actually operate software. OpenAI runs the infrastructure.

If you know a niche better than a generic AI does, you can now wrap that knowledge into a working agent without building the harness yourself.

4) DECISIONS API (limited preview)

Fast answers to fixed-choice questions, in under a second. Classify, route, pick the next step.

Use cases I'm thinking about: → Which headline variant to show → Which email segment a lead belongs in → Which bonus fits which buyer

NICHE TOOL IDEAS that suddenly make sense

(tiny categories OpenAI will never build itself)

→ Contract checker for one type of agreement → Shopify catalog cleanup tool → Research monitor for one specific field → Video tool built around one repeatable editing workflow → For us: affiliate bonus builder, launch-email checker, offer-angle finder

The shift: sell the workflow, not the tokens.

What makes a workflow defensible: → Knowledge others don't have → A specialist process → Access to outside systems → A measurable result
