Public CustomGPT Alternatives You Can Use

If you've been giving away Custom GPT links, that channel just closed

Quick heads up, because a few people in here have been using Custom GPTs as bonuses, lead magnets, or the actual product.

Straight from OpenAI's own help pages: "Personal ChatGPT accounts cannot create or publish new GPTs." Free, Go, Plus, Pro — all of them. Creating and publishing is now a Business/Enterprise/Edu feature only.

What that means in practice: → You can't build a new one to give away. At all. → You can't publish or list a new one. → The ones you already have still run and can still be edited.

So nothing died overnight. But if your bonus stack or your delivery relied on "here's my Custom GPT" — that stops working for anything new you launch from today.

The uncomfortable part

A GPT link was never really a product. No payment gate. No buyer record. No way to update everyone who has it. No email address. You were renting shelf space and calling it an asset.

This just made that obvious.

What to do this week

  1. Back it up. Open Configure on every GPT you've built and copy the instruction block into a folder on your drive. Also download your knowledge files back out. 20 minutes for all of them, and you only get to do it while that screen still opens.

  2. Then rebuild it as something you own. Three options, easiest first:

→ PDF pre-frame — paste the instructions into a doc, add a line at the end saying "these are your operating instructions, confirm and ask me for the first input", export as PDF. Buyer uploads it into Claude, Gemini, free ChatGPT, whatever. Works on any AI, downloads without an account, and you can attach it to a purchase.

→ Skill file — a small text file that loads itself when the topic comes up, instead of being pasted. One file, works for you and for customers.

→ Web tool — the job as a page or a downloadable .html. This is the one you can actually gate, license, and sell.

Every one of those is a better product than the GPT was. Downloadable, deliverable, yours.

Anyone here had a GPT link in a live funnel? Say so and I'll help you work out the swap.

Speaking of creating a web tool, if I built a prototype in Claude Design, how would I get that into the public's hands the easiest way? It's a complex online homeschool planner that would need Supabase and GitHub and I think Vercel? I download Cursor to possibly build it that way into Vercel... But that's as far as my knowledge about it goes. I downloaded the entire files for it. I just need to know what to really DO with them to build the back end while maintaining the front end!

I would use Claude code, while coursor will do the job as well. In claude code you can get a link from claude design to import it into your build. I think its working similar for other coding agents. You can also download a html / zip file, ask first that all is included needed to rebuild the design in you app! You basically need 1. A front end/Back end (Vercel/netifly/your own node.js server/vps) and a database like supabase. Best is to connect your coding agent to the tools you want to use per mcp or api (vercel and supabase for example), this should enable him to set it up for you. Github is a good middleman you cn auto deploye gut repos to vercel or other providers, and git hub enables you to roll back in your code, work in paralell and keep it organized, but it is more a working tool than a needed deployment tool. Hope this helps a bit, feel free to ask more, should maybe create a vibe coding space.
