The part of a whiteboard video nobody enjoys
Whiteboard explainers work because they teach. The viewer watches an idea being drawn, one point at a time, and it sticks.
Making one by hand is another story: script it, sketch every scene, record the drawing, sync the voice, add captions, edit. That's why short whiteboard videos are listed on Fiverr at $135 to $285 each (the figure Skribbly's own sales page uses).

What each video really costs
Skribbly is bring-your-own-key. You connect your own Anthropic key (script), OpenAI key (illustrations) and ElevenLabs or Fish Audio key (voice), or upload your own audio.
The vendor's own numbers: the script costs under 10 cents, illustrations about $1.25 for 6 scenes, $2.00 for 9 and $2.75 for 12, and roughly $1–$3 in credits per video overall. You pay those providers directly, so there's no monthly Skribbly fee on top.

Before you buy: three things worth knowing
It runs in desktop Chrome and records in real time. A three-minute video takes about three minutes to record, and the tab has to stay in front while it does. Start it, grab a coffee.
You need your own AI keys. That's what keeps the price at $17 once instead of a subscription, but it means a few minutes of setup and a small bill per video from the AI providers.
